Claris Hotel & Spa is a five-star grand luxe hotel in a neoclassical palace from 1883 on Carrer de Pau Claris, a few steps from Passeig de Gràcia in the heart of modernist Barcelona. The building, one of the first stately homes of the Eixample and listed in Catalonia's architectural heritage inventory, became a luxury hotel in 1992 after a renovation by Bohigas, Martorell and Mackay. Its 124 recently refurbished rooms and suites each display works from the owners' remarkable collection of art and antiques. The award-winning spa is devoted to the balance of body and mind, and the rooftop terrace with pool and bar is one of the city's favourite summer meeting places. Guests can dine on Japanese cuisine at Os Kuro, with a sushi bar and a robata restaurant, and dogs are welcome with their own comfort kit. It suits couples and travellers looking for art, design and refined service on Barcelona's most elegant avenue.
