Circa 1905 is a boutique B&B on the first floor of a modernist building just off Passeig de Gràcia, a short walk from Gaudí's Casa Milà and Casa Batlló. Built in 1905 as the home of a bourgeois Barcelona family, the house was restored by the Chilean architect and designer María Paz Solar as a tribute to Catalan Modernism, furnished with period pieces from local antique shops, and opened as a boutique hotel in 2011. Its three room types are elegant: 24-square-metre doubles or twins with a small balcony over Carrer de Provença and side views of Casa Milà, rooms with a terrace over an inner garden with magnolia trees, and a cosy room with access to the inner patio. Rooms have a private bathroom, high-quality beds with Egyptian cotton linen and quality bath amenities. A complimentary continental buffet breakfast with local products is served each morning, and a 24-hour coffee corner offers free coffee, tea and filtered water. Reception and concierge help from 8 am to 4 pm, with online check-in and phone assistance around the clock.
