Hotel Es Molí is a Mediterranean hideaway on a 17th-century estate above the emblematic village of Deià, between the sea and the Serra de Tramuntana mountains on the north-west coast of Mallorca. The estate, bought by Joan Masroig in 1459 for its olive groves and mills, became a hotel in 1965 and blends historic stone architecture with refined simplicity and a level of privacy that is rare on the island. More than 15,000 square metres of terraced gardens with century-old olive trees, citrus groves and stone paths surround the hotel, with panoramic viewpoints over Deià and the mountains. The 32-metre pool, filled with heated spring water, is set among lush vegetation, and guests have access to Muleta, a protected rocky cove 20 minutes away reserved for them. The restaurant serves seasonal Mediterranean cuisine based on Mallorcan produce, with views of the sea and the Tramuntana and a selection of Mallorcan and Spanish wines. A tennis court overlooking the sea, yoga in the gardens and hiking and cycling routes into the UNESCO-listed mountains offer gentle ways to stay active.
