The Santuari de Lluc is a historic monastery and pilgrimage site in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana, in the north of Mallorca, where guests can stay in a haven of peace and introspective calm. Staying here means connecting with the nature and culture of the place, surrounded by mountains, holm-oak woods and stone buildings around arcaded courtyards and a basilica. Rooms are simple and comfortable, many with traditional wooden furniture and beamed ceilings, and some apartments add a living area and kitchenette. Days begin with a traditional breakfast at Sa Fonda, the main restaurant in a vaulted former dining hall, which also serves typical Mallorcan dishes à la carte for dinner. A botanical garden dating from 1956 shows native and endemic plants, and bars, shops and the Forn i Botiga bakery sell Mallorcan bread and pastries. Lluc is a classic stop for cyclists and hikers, the destination of the "Lluc a peu" pilgrimage walks from Sóller, Pollença and Caimari, and a base for exploring turquoise coves and Tramuntana villages.
