How we compare: package deals against tour-operator prices
Every offer on hoo.travel puts a package of hotel, flights and airport transfer next to a comparable tour-operator package. This is how the comparison is made – step by step, with the same rules for every offer.
What is compared
The same hotel, the same arrival and departure dates, the same travellers with the children’s ages, the same board and the same departure airport. The room is the operator’s category or a higher one; a higher category is stated on the offer page.
Our package
The hotel is booked direct with the hotel, at the price of its own booking page. The flight is found on Kiwi.com with the same number of checked bags; the airport transfer on GetTransfer, both ways. GetTransfer is a marketplace: the transfer price is the lowest bid drivers may make, which is why our total is a “from” price. Each component is booked separately with its own provider.
The tour-operator price
We open the offer on the operator’s site for exactly these dates and run its availability check there – without booking. The price it then shows is the price compared; a screenshot of it is on the offer page, with date and time. Prices from offer lists without that check are marked as such.
When an offer appears
Only when our package is at least 12.5% cheaper than the checked operator offer. The saving is always shown rounded down. From 20% an offer is marked as a hot deal.
Differences
What sets the packages apart is listed in the comparison table and never netted off: rail & fly or a larger cabin bag with the operator, free cancellation or a transfer with us. Where we lack a fact, the table shows a question mark, not a guess.
Currencies
Prices in other currencies are converted at the European Central Bank reference rate of the day of the check.
Daily re-check
Every live offer is checked again daily. When the saving drops below 12.5%, it sells out or the travel date passes, it expires: the page stays online with a notice, can no longer be booked and moves to the archive.
