Borneta sits in the heart of El Born, Barcelona's former artisans' quarter, now home to artists, independent boutiques and tapas bars. Its 92 rooms and suites, designed by the London studio Thurstan, combine warm tones, Spanish furniture and antiques with works by local makers and artists. Many rooms have a terrace or balcony overlooking Passeig de Picasso or Carrer de la Fusina, and every one offers a hand-crafted bed, a reading corner and a rainfall shower. Five Terrace Rooms have large furnished outdoor terraces, while the suites add a separate living room. On the rooftop a pool and bar look out over the city, and Volta, set beneath the historic Porxos de Fontseré arches, serves Mediterranean dishes inspired by Italian tradition. A library, a gallery space, a gym and the Ciutadella Park across the street round off the stay.
