El Sitio is a small rural complex of seven casitas built of volcanic stone among the vineyards of Frontera, on the quiet Canary island of El Hierro, with spectacular views of the Atlantic, the mountains and the fertile El Golfo valley. The casitas, named after villages of the island, are set around an old wine cellar that now serves as reception and meeting place, on the slope where El Sitio begins. Each is simple and personal, built in the traditional Herreño style, with a private bathroom, a small kitchenette and views of the sea, the vines or the mountains. A yoga room overlooking the sea hosts classes in yoga, tai chi and other practices, and local therapists offer massages in a cosy treatment room. The place suits nature holidays far from mass tourism, with the trails, natural pools and villages of El Golfo close by. El Sitio suits couples, small groups, walkers and anyone looking for a retreat on the greenest and wildest of the Canary Islands.
