Pensión Ciudadela is a small family-run hostal on Carrer del Comerç in El Born, a peaceful retreat in one of the most charming corners of Barcelona's old town. Its modern, cosy rooms are singles, doubles with a private bathroom inside the room or just outside it, a double with an extra single bed that suits a couple with a child, and family rooms for families or friends, some with a balcony over the street and others facing a quiet light well. Rooms and common areas are opened with door codes, and the rooms are cleaned thoroughly every day. A common lounge offers free coffee and tea throughout the stay, a fridge, a microwave and tourist information, and luggage can be left before check-in or after check-out. With only a few rooms, the owners put personal attention first and stay reachable 24 hours a day for anything guests need. The Ciutadella park, the Picasso Museum and the bars and shops of the Born are a short walk away, which makes it a friendly base for couples, solo travellers and small families.
