Porxos Garden is a boutique hostal in a historic building from 1862, famous as Picasso's first home in Barcelona, right where the Gothic Quarter, El Born and Barceloneta meet. It occupies the main floor, and to keep the building's heritage intact there is no lift. The rooms face quiet interior courtyards or, in the Superior category, have a balcony over the neighbourhood, with large beds, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. A garden terrace offers a calm corner in the middle of the old town, and breakfast is a buffet of local products. Check-in works around the clock at a self-service kiosk, with reception open in the daytime. Port Vell, the beach, the Picasso Museum and Santa Maria del Mar are all a short walk away, and Barceloneta metro is four minutes on foot.
