Playas de Fornells, also known as Ses Salines or Platges de Fornells, is a low-key residential and holiday development on the northern coast of Menorca, spread across a gentle hillside overlooking a series of small sandy coves and the sparkling turquoise waters of the Tramuntana coast. The area sits just west of the fishing village of Fornells, offering the tranquillity of a private coastal retreat while remaining within easy reach of what many consider Menorca's gastronomic capital, famous for its caldereta de langosta. Several small beaches and rocky coves are scattered along this stretch of coastline, with Playa de Fornells itself being a sheltered arc of fine sand ideal for families with young children and calm-water swimming. The surrounding landscape is typical of Menorca's northern Tramuntana zone: dark ancient rock, low Mediterranean scrubland, and aromatic wild herbs that perfume the salt-tinged coastal air.
