Sant Josep de Sa Talaia is the largest municipality on Ibiza by area, encompassing the island's highest peak Sa Talaia at four hundred and seventy-five metres along with much of the spectacular southwestern coastline including the legendary beaches of Cala Comte, Cala Tarida, Cala Vadella and the salt flats of Ses Salines Natural Park. The municipal capital is a small traditional village centred around a whitewashed church and a handful of local bars and restaurants that preserve an authentic rural character far from the tourism of the coast. The municipality's coastline features some of Ibiza's most dramatic scenery, from the mysterious rocky islets of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell rising from the sea to the clifftop viewpoints and hidden coves accessible only by boat or rough dirt tracks through the pine forests.
