Geafond
Geafond is a quiet residential settlement on the northern coast of Fuerteventura, located just one kilometre south of Corralejo in the municipality of La Oliva, offering the peace and space of a low-rise villa neighbourhood with all the beaches, restaurants and nightlife of the island's main resort within a short walk or five-minute drive. The area sits on a gently elevated lava plain above the eastern shoreline, and its modern detached villas and landscaped gardens create a distinctly suburban feel that contrasts with Corralejo's bustling commercial centre to the north. The Grandes Playas de Corralejo — the sweeping golden dune beach system that forms part of the Parque Natural de Corralejo — begins barely over a kilometre to the northeast, providing world-class conditions for windsurfing, kitesurfing and long barefoot walks along one of the finest natural beaches in the Canary Islands. The Mirador de Lobos Golf course, one of the few golf facilities on Fuerteventura, lies on the edge of Geafond and offers nine holes with panoramic views of Isla de Lobos and southern Lanzarote across the Bocaina strait. A network of unpaved trails radiates from the settlement into the surrounding malpais volcanic terrain, with a popular five-and-a-half-kilometre loop gaining ninety-five metres of elevation and passing through a stark landscape of dark lava flows, euphorbias and endemic shrubs. Despite its proximity to Corralejo, Geafond retains a peaceful residential character with virtually no tourist infrastructure of its own, making it attractive to visitors who prefer private villa accommodation and rental apartments over conventional hotel stays. Fuerteventura Airport is approximately thirty minutes south by car along the FV-1 motorway, and the Corralejo ferry terminal with daily sailings to Lanzarote is just five minutes to the north. The area benefits from the services of nearby Corralejo, including supermarkets, pharmacies, medical centres, banks and a wide range of international dining options clustered along the harbour front and Calle Grande pedestrian strip. Geafond's location on the leeward eastern side of the island means it enjoys calmer waters and warmer afternoons than the wind-battered west coast, with sheltered swimming possible at the small rocky coves south of Corralejo. Luxury resorts and boutique wellness retreats have begun establishing themselves in Geafond, drawn by the combination of generous building plots, uninterrupted ocean views, proximity to the dunes and the serenity that comes from being just outside — but not far from — the island's busiest resort.
