El Cotillo is a tranquil fishing village on the northwestern coast of Fuerteventura, part of the La Oliva municipality and largely untouched by mass tourism. The village is centred around a small working harbour lined with seafood restaurants and bars, preserving the traditional character of whitewashed Canarian houses. To the north, the sheltered lagoons of Playa de la Concha offer calm, turquoise waters ideal for families and snorkelling, while the southern beaches such as Piedra Playa attract surfers and kitesurfers with consistent Atlantic swells. The historic Torre del Toston, a fortified watchtower built in 1743 to guard against pirate raids, stands on the headland overlooking the coast.
