Binibeca
Binibeca, known in Catalan as Binibèquer, is a picturesque coastal settlement on Menorca's south-eastern shore, world-famous for Binibeca Vell — a labyrinthine fisherman's village of dazzling whitewashed houses, narrow winding lanes, and hidden stairways that has become one of the most photographed and Instagram-worthy spots in the entire Balearic Islands. Built in 1972 as a residential development inspired by traditional Mediterranean fishing villages, Binibeca Vell's architect Antoni Sintes created a masterpiece of organic design where no two houses are alike, and every turn reveals a new composition of white walls, stone archways, and glimpses of turquoise sea. The settlement sits above a small sandy beach and a series of rocky coves where crystal-clear water invites snorkelling among the rocks and seagrass meadows. Beyond the famous village, the wider Binibeca area encompasses a peaceful residential zone of low-rise villas and apartments, with several excellent waterfront restaurants serving fresh fish and traditional Menorcan cuisine. The rocky coastline around Binibeca is dotted with natural swimming platforms and tiny hidden coves, making it ideal for those who prefer rock-pool swimming and sunbathing to crowded sandy beaches. Binibeca is well-positioned on Menorca's south-eastern coast, with the airport just fifteen minutes away and the capital Mahon a short drive north, while the neighbouring resorts of Punta Prima and S'Algar offer additional beach options. The Cami de Cavalls coastal path passes through the area, connecting Binibeca to the surrounding coastline and offering beautiful walks along the low cliffs.
